Consumer Price Index (CPI) is the measure of a fixed basket of goods and services which is used as an inflation indicator. This index is used to calculate the cost of living for government programs and private labor agreements. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor realeases the consumer price index 8:30 eastern standard time (ET) around the 13th of each month for the prior month.
