Employment Cost Index (ECI) measures the change in the cost of labor. The ECI includes wages, salaries and employee benefits. The aggregate change in these items makes up the ECI. The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Statistics releases the report at 8:30 eastern standard time near the end of the first month of the quarter for the prior quarter.
